Sarah Palin, John McCain's Choice for VP

mccain palin sarah vice president vpJohn McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his Vice Presidential running mate. "America's Hottest Governor," God bless em! Jest we may, but clearly she's much more than just a pretty face, and her accomplishments speak to that.

While this will certainly raise concerns about the strain on John's old and wise heart, along with all his potential presidential responsibilities, we're more concerned with how you feel about this decision.

I think Obama chose the perfect complementary VP running mate in Biden, and it appears McCain has done the same by choosing Palin. Let's use this opportunity to discuss the decision, and to compare the two tickets, now that they are complete.

Absolutely an incredible and very masterful decision. This decision proves he can make the right decisions. This will keep the conservative vote along with getting the vote of women. It should steal some Hillary voters.

She's pro choice. How does that fit in with McCain's promise to overthrow Roe vs. Wade?

I think that Obama choosing another Senator could hurt him. Niether of them has ever done anything in an executive role.

I thing Palin is a good/ but not great choice. This vote for me will be who I think is more qualified to run this country. Unfortunatly I don't think any of these are

This shows how desperate things are in the McCain camp after Obama's speech.

After watching Obama last night, McCain panicked and went with a stretch as a VP. He anti-abortion stance will lose more women than she would bring in. This kills his chances (and I am a Republican).

She's not pro-choice, she's pr-life. Fits in perfectly with McCain's psition. She has executive experience as well, something Obama and Biden doesn't have. BTW,McCain has it as a result of his experience leading the largest squadron in the U.S. Navy.

Not only is she pro life, but this is a woman who knew she was pregnant with a child with Down Syndrome, and chose to give birth to that child rather than abort it.

Please let's keep the statements accurate and truthful folks.

She will be an asset.
Now watch the liberal women and NOW types retract into their shells and go quiet not knowing how to handle it.

As far as I'm concerned, McCain made a great political choice. You almost couldn't have dreamed up a better candidate. Young ex-beauty pageant contestant, high school athlete, journalist, married 20 years to native Alaskan union worker with 5 kids, oldest enlisted in infantry last year, lifetime member of NRA, hunter and fisherwoman (including working on a commercial boat with her husband), progressed from PTA to city council to mayor to governor who has firmly supported drilling in Alaska AND alternative energy resource development. She's a perfect offset to McCain. She doesn't have foreign affairs background, but she helps make up for what McCain lacks in domestic issues and she beat the incumbent Republican in the gubernatorial primary and a former governor in the general election, sweeping out the Alaska "old boys network" in one election year. Great choice! Oh yeah, and her kids all have real liberal sounding names, with the youngest born 4 months ago with Down syndrome.

I thought that this was Obama's election to lose. I don't think he's done anything to lose it yet, but McCain may have just done something to win it. Look for some action packed VP debates because these 2 choices like to talk and they like to be heard, and we all know that there can't be 2 centers of attention, can there? It will be no holds barred compared to the quiet distinguished tone used by McCain and Obama in the debates.

I like the stances Palin has taken regarding spending and ethics, but
the downside is that she might be a little short on experience.
Although Republicans can and should argue that she is far more
experienced than Obama, who is at the top of the Democratic ticket!!!
She may help McCain with undecided women (and yes- she is Pro-Life----jeez----do some research and get your facts right before posting totally untrue nonsense!), but I think once again people will overestimate the impact of this choice. Neither Biden, nor Palin is going to win or lose this race. Americans vote for the top of the ticket, not VP. I think the best example of the relevance of the VP choice is how George HW Bush (41) won over 400 electoral votes in 1988
with Dan Quayle as his running mate. John Adams referred to the Vice Presidency as "the least significant position ever established by man"

In response to anonymous below...She isn't pro choice, she is even anti abortion in the case of incest victims and rape. Which just seems like more punishment for the victim.

It is "Funny Time" with the presidential election less than two months away. I wish all the candidates and their insiders (aids)would discuss the issues facing the country and not the petty issus as to who is the most Christian, conservative, liberal, etc. All that is pure bunk!!!
