Weekly Business Planner - Dec 2 - 6

The week ahead highlights the monthly employment report as well as an update of GDP growth. A good many other economic reports are due, but investors will mostly focus on the growth of the economy and the state of the labor force. The pace of economic growth is expected to be adjusted higher for the third quarter, while the unemployment rate is expected to improve slightly.

Stocks hardly moved in the shortened period inclusive of the holiday, but are richly fattened for the year-to-date period. We have been looking for retrenchment toward the close of the year, and we have seen it in the most richly valued momentum names, but other stocks have taken up the charge in their place. This is important to note, as it reflects a shifting of capital and is important for sector strategy.
