Wall Street, the GreekIs it "Yes we can," or "Sorry, but at least we tried?" Your Senate today seems poised to kill the Public Option from within its version of the Health Care Reform Bill. I do not know about you, but I am outraged today. WHAT ABOUT YOU ANYWAY? DO YOU HAVE A VOICE!? Fear not though, as the Senate is working on a plan that would still insure the uninsured poor, though through a tighter screen that would inevitably leave some people out in the cold.

Public Option Killed in Senate Health Care Bill

"Why don't we just execute everyone who cannot afford health care then, to make it easier for the national conscience to swallow?"

How could a bunch of cushy and comfortable Senators kill this important component of health care reform?! I think we need to raise hell this morning, in order to let our government know how important this basic human need is to all of us who give a damn about our brothers. It goes without saying that this is essential to those of us who have no other means of getting what citizens of other developed nations receive for free. Are we really the greatest nation on earth, or just the greatest for everyone but the poor? Why don't we just execute everyone who cannot afford health care then, to make it easier for the national conscience to swallow? Is that more acceptable to you America than treating their illnesses would be? Seek this answer deep inside yourselves this morning and call your Senators and let them know what you think.

See the list of Democratic Senators who are reportedly against the Public Option below.

It may be easy for the health care lobby to influence Senators, but they will have a harder time convincing the members of the House to short change thirty million Americans. Representatives of the House, you see, have their antennas well-attuned to what the nation demands. Senators perhaps spend too much time in DC, and forget who they represent and what they stand for, what this nation stands for if it really is "One Nation Under God."

Fear not, as the Senate is exploring other options that might still provide health care to those who cannot otherwise afford it. It may just be that these "other" ideas would be less costly than the "Public Option," while also making it more difficult for many Americans to qualify. The deal is that the government would negotiate with insurers for the sake of the uninsured, sort of like how they do now for federal government employees. The public option would not be available to all Americans it seems. I see qualifiers sneaking into this type of legislation, and it would inevitably leave some of us out in the cold and uninsured just as we are now. But guess what, this cheaper deal does not even satisfy my old Party.

Would Republicans (I'm Independent) rather we sweep the destitute under the rug? By doing so, we take for granted God's gift of life and his provision of life's essentials. We, rather, take responsibility for our own successes. We, therefore, determine that we have control over what occurs to us in our lives, that we have the power to achieve, and more importantly to avoid poverty. In fact, poverty and strife are so far out of this mindset that it is viewed an impossibility. This is a great mistake that many of us, if we are lucky, will likely learn the hard way. Those who would sweep health care reform under the rug and throw the poor into the rivers are ignoring the possibility of ever becoming needy themselves. It is an impossibility to those of you who would do this, and unfortunately, a lesson may be in store for you.

Call your Republican Senators and tell them how you feel about this basic need for your fellow man, and ask them if they care more about Americans and the poor, or about their health care lobby support. It's a given that most, if not all of Republican Senators stand against this amendment (tell me who does not below), but here below are the...

Greek I think you're over thinking this solution. If we can get everyone over 55 on Medicare in 2010 then everyone over 40 in 2011, over 25 in 2012 and the all in 2013, then this will be a great public option. The current Medicare system will take that long to increase their personnel and systems to handle the load anyway.

For too long your country (I'm Canadian - yes eat it up) - for some strange reason - likes to equate Government provision of basic services with Communism. This utterly bizarre framing of reality has left your "great nation" in a very sad state.

Greek- you know I love you, but this is along the lines with "everyone DESERVES the American Dream", meaning everyone is ENTITLED to own their own home, everyone should be given a credit card and choose not to pay it off it they get fired from their job, and everyone is entitled to a vacation in the Caribean, or everyone is entitled to 2 cars.

Let me make this clear to all Americans. You are entitled to your Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness (there is no government guarantee that you will be happy). If you land a job with benefits, you are entitled to the salary and perks you negotiated when you accepted the job, but only after working the necessary 40-60 hours a week to actually EARN your salary and perks.

NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE PEOPLE. Wake up and pull your heads out of the sand.

Why is medical care for everyone so illusive and still non-existent? I think every American should be able to have the same insurance our Congressmen have, which costs about $400 a month.

Democratic Senators are saying the final bill could be improved without the Public Option, but I'm still wary. I just believe that if free health care is not available to everyone, some of us will end up screwed over. And let your Congressmen know that the "State Opt Out" idea is a bonehead one that will leave people living in red states without health care. This is a national problem that requires nationwide change. Let's not screw half of our country over.

How about we fix that first great Government program Medicare and Medicaid, prove that we can actually get those to work right, and then dismantle a system that 85% of Americans are currently happy with. Or yes, as another reader commented about----justput the 15% on the Congressman's health care plan. WTF? Is this that complicated? Or just a power grab to get the populace more dependent on a nanny state to ensure the votes keep coming their way?

BIll Nelson will vote for anything he is told to.
He has rarely, if ever, voted contrary to the democrat party, much to the detriment of his constituents.
With Nelson it has alsways been party first, law and The Constitution last.
