MLK Day - Stock Market Closed

Today is a special day for the whole of humanity. It is the day we remember the life of a man who testified for the equality of mankind. When we had strayed, this man subjected himself to persecution in order to remind us that all men are created equal. The day, the man, and his life's accomplishments symbolize all that is true and just.

This spiritual leader will forever inspire men to fight for righteousness in the face of impossible adversity. He lived the life we are all meant to live, a saint's life. What he accomplished with love, no army ever took by force. Today we honor one of the greatest men to ever have walked the earth, Martin Luther King, Jr.

For those of you reading from beyond the pages of our blog, we hope you will follow the link below to the columns of Wall Street Greek where we have placed just a few videos catching the reflection of a brilliant life. Martin Luther King Jr.'s heart-warming, hopeful and God pleasing "I Have a Dream" speech along with his famous prescient address where he talks of "...the mountain top," can be found there today.

We hope these videos will move you like they have moved us; inspire you like they have inspired millions; and remind you of what you already know. There are atrocities and wrongs in today's world, in current times, that we are all aware of but do little to stop. There are moral wrongs that still remain to be righted. Therefore, I am not sure Dr. King would be pleased with us as a people today, for we have been idle. Oh we have made great strides, but we have not done enough!

MLK Day should be more than just a day off for bankers and the stock market. It should serve as a reminder that there remain great deeds to be done, great works to be taken to. Because, as MLK said, "One day... we will have to stand before the God of history; and we talk in terms of things we've done. And it seems that I can hear the God of history saying, That was not enough! For I was hungry and you served me not."
