Today is a special day for the whole of humanity. It is the day we remember the life of a man who testified for the equality of mankind. When we had strayed, this man subjected himself to persecution in order to remind us that all men are created equal. The day, the man and his life's accomplishments symbolize all that is just and true. This spiritual leader will forever inspire men to fight for righteousness in the face of impossible adversity. He lived the life we are all meant to live, a saint's life. What he accomplished with love, no army ever took by force. Today we honor one of the greatest men to ever have walked the earth, Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here for your viewing, we've placed the video of a shining moment in a brilliant life, MLK's heart-warming, hopeful and God pleasing "I Have a Dream" speech. If you do not see the video from your vantage point, please click here: MARTIN LUTHER KING - I HAVE A DREAM

Well, I expect a whole lot of people will be answering that question here shortly. Suggest you see the History Channel's work on him, probably airing tonight.

Here's what I have to say about it:

People sometimes can see injustice, suffer from it and grow frustrated by it. However, human judgment can take men in many different directions to resolve such injustice. Martin Luther King, either by wisdom or due to a purely soft heart, recognized there was a peaceful route.

Men need guidance; Martin received it in his life and then he shared it. The devil is all to available to provide it when a void is there to fill. Mr. King filled that void before evil could, and led America to grow and progress in a peaceful manner. Racial segregation could not last, so it was only a matter of time until it ended by some means or another. Martin Luther King led men to the most effective AND righteous means for that change.

Today, there are many groups of people who feel they are the victims of injustice. I think you can see the various means of resolution in progress the world over, and the difference between those routes. Hatred can easily beget hatred, but love overcomes.

The man followed Gandhi's peaceful lead, not to mention the knowledge he gained in Semenary school. King helped us better ourselves the right way. He sacrificed his life for it in fact. He was imprisoned for righteousness; stabbed in the chest for it; and finally killed. That seems to me quite great a sacrifice, don't you agree?

The story sounds familiar to me. Don't you recognize it? The story is also told in a book called "The New Testament." I think he gave enough of himself for the whole of men. His extraordinary unselfishness was enough for me anyway to understand why he has rightly "become so idolized." I would say admired though.

To read more about his life, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr and definitely the History Channel biography. Listen to his words in the speech on the blog here. Really listen to the deep meaning, and try to understand that this message was not for one group of people, but for the whole of mankind.

My eyes fill with tears as I listen to those words, because they transcend color, race or group, and touch on something common within us, our humanity. He was a great man.

God bless
