Stocks Want to Mark New Highs but…

traders
Stocks should be marking a new 52-week high today on the back of this morning’s super consumer spending news. Unfortunately, several of other relevant and irrelevant pending events are plaguing our run and could unravel gains at a moment’s notice. It did not help that regional data out of Chicago and the latest Consumer Confidence measure contrasted against the consumer spending message. A push higher is warranted at this point and I think it’s reflected in the dollar’s recovery intraday, but given the significant wall of worry, data will have to continue to give investors reason for confidence as we progress through the week for us to get there.
